About Us

Welcome to Chinese Savvy!

Chinese Savvy is your new tool for Chinese language learning. Our aim is to promote Chinese language learning in the form of Mandarin speaking and simplified Chinese writing, and to promote trans-cultural communications in the Chinese language. We want to give non-Chinese individuals a better way to interact with the Chinese, and facilitate two-way communications between China and other cultures. In short, we want the world to better understand China and benefit from its vast resources and splendid achievements.

Our team consists of native Chinese speakers that have backgrounds in Chinese language learning, English studies, new media, distance education and trans-national communication. We are totally prepared to provide users with Chinese language courses that are 100% genuine Chinese, whilst maintaining very high educational standards. Through our diverse editorial and user-generated content, we can provide you with the unique balance between Chinese and global perspectives.

We have chosen English as the language with which to present our website, so as to make website browsing and language learning as easy as possible. We hope that by choosing one of the most widely spoken languages in the world we can reach out to the largest number of people. Whether you live in Europe, the USA or Asia , we want you to be able to take advantage of our website facilities. We are striving for perfection in our use of English on the site, but if you see any mistakes please inform us.

Chinese Savvy is an open project, and we feel that collaboration with others is extremely important. We always welcome people who have special skills and interests in any area of the website, from educators and linguists, to web designers, media workers and writers. Bi-lingual or multi-lingual users can be very helpful for the progression of our site. For those of you looking to learn Chinese, there are many Chinese volunteers on our site who will be able to assist you with your progress, and perhaps even learn something from you about your culture and language. We believe that all users can contribute to, and benefit from, this wonderful exchange experience.

Finally, we acknowledge that we are not funded by and do not belong to any government, political party or religious group in the world, although politics, policies and religions are important topics in global communication. We respect freedom of speech, and encourage all users to engage in legal and respectful communications, but do not endorse or take any responsibility for the opinions and behaviors of our users. If there is one thing that we do believe, it is that trans-cultural communications in the Chinese language will greatly improve understanding between China and the world, and we believe this is something worth working for.
