Chǎng Diàn is located in Beijing's Hépíngménwài glaze factory district. Every year from the first to the seventh day of the lunar year, there is a Chǎng Diàn festival to celebrate the New Year. The Spring Festival holiday is the time when the visitors to this area hits its peak, and it is certainly by far the most bustling and lively place in Beijing. There are very few people who don't celebrate the lunar New Year, strolling around the Chǎng Diàn fair. At the Chang Dian festival, people watch as lanterns gradually take shape, appearing more and more grandiose and spectacular as the New Year approaches. At this festival there are sellers touting an assortment of commodities and a different person for each one, shopping the fair's avenues. Whether young or old, male or female, everyone will find something to enjoy. The Chǎng Diàn Temple Fair is currently the largest public festival in Beijing and, at this time of year, the normally sullen glaze factory is restored to a celebrated cultural street.

Wandering the Chǎng Diàn Miào Huì is one of Beijing's most well-known New Year's customs. In addition to the Chǎng Diàn Fair, there are also – among others – celebrations at Dì Tán, Lóng Tán, Bái Tǎ Sì, and Bái Yún Guān temples.
