东方新天地(the Malls at Oriental Plaza)

　　 东方新天地就坐落在王府井大街，据说是由香港富商李嘉诚投资兴建的。这也是王府井这个著名的步行街上本地人也许是本地的“小资”们真正喜欢去购物、就餐的地方。那 里完全没有老北京的影子，出售的全是各国中高档品牌的服装饰品，伴有地下一层各式中高档餐厅，既能享受美味，又能痛快购物。  　 

　　东方新天地 is a shopping center mall with a great amount of variety. Its top floor is located at the ground level of the southern end of the 王府井 walking street (a sort of promenade through the wealthier downtown area of Beijing) and continues three stories further underground. Though it is mostly composed of high-end, well-known designers such as Miss Sixty and Diesel, there is an area dedicated to both Chinese fashion and Chinese edibles. It is larger than the usual center and extremely well-organized, split by street names like "International Boulevard" and "Food Court Center". This is certainly not the average Chinese's shopping mall, however. The prices are well above the reach of the average citizen of Beijing and is intended more for wealthy tourists, and what are often called the 小资, a sort of developing bourgeoisie class in China's larger cities. With the rise in standard of living of most Chinese and the increased opportunity for accumulation of private wealth, more and more of these centers (including the 中关村 and 国贸 shopping plazas) are cropping up all around the city.
